Friday tunes 27

Albums
Scala & Kolacny Brothers – Scala & Kolacny Brothers – brilliant choral performances of seminal tunes including tracks originally from Metallica, Oasis and Kings of Leon
Various Artists – Hôtel Costes 7 by Stéphane Pompougnac – Cool funky French house & lounge from the genius that is Pompougnac. This is my fave of the 14 albums – they’re all great!
Lady Gaga – Born This Way – no heckling please

Single tracks
Unforscene – Dangerous - Feat Phil King – Upright piano grime & soul vocals. Sweeet!
Bryan Adams – Run To You – Really feeling it this Friday

Podcasts
Hospital Records (link to iTunes store) – check out these DnB podcasts from Hospital, starting with 143. James Blake at 8:30 is sweet, Danny Byrd at 12:10 got me bopping like a mentalist on the tube!

Friday playlist
Ade’s May Mix 2011 – a mate of a mate’s pulled together this super chilled playlist

"Weekly" tunes 26

The Leisure Society – Into The Murky Water – Lovely lovely summery tunes. Really feeling ‘Dust on the dancefloor’, ‘You could keep my talking’ and 'Just like the knife'
Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues – Lovely laid-back folky 2nd album
Amon Tobin – Foley Room - Some beautiful atmospheric tracks. "Horsefish" reminds me of the theme to Babel, "Bloodstone" - intense & haunting, "Keep Your Distance" is also a stand-out
Jay-Z – The Black Album - So so very good. "My 1st Song" = amazing, as are all the others
RJD2 – Deadringer: Deluxe - Another must-listen-to hip-hop album. More tune than rap.

Moqita – Moqita – Jazzy, funky St Germain style tunes
Clayton & Fulcrum – Songs From The Soul City – largely featuring Moquita, so some similar jazzy flutey vibe
